Summer Adventure Elopement at Artist Point, Mount Baker

Some love stories are meant to be told in the mountains—and Nick and Kearstin’s elopement at Artist Point in Mount Baker was one of those unforgettable days. Both in medical school and juggling demanding schedules, these two carved out time to fly across the country and intentionally celebrate their love in one of the most awe-inspiring spots in Washington State.

We began the day at their cozy cabin tucked into the trees, where they helped each other get ready and shared a quiet first look that set the tone for the rest of the day—joyful, relaxed, and full of meaning. One of my favorite things about elopements is how unhurried and personal they are, and this one was no exception.

From there, we made our way up to Artist Point, one of the most iconic elopement spots in the North Cascades. With Mount Shuksan towering in the background and the summer sun lighting up the ridgelines, it was the perfect place for them to exchange their vows. Since I’m ordained, all we needed were two kind-hearted hikers to serve as witnesses—and let me tell you, they were thrilled to be part of it.

After taking in the sweeping alpine views and capturing some portraits against the dramatic landscape, we headed down the mountain to Heather Meadows, a lush and wildflower-dotted area that feels like something out of a fairytale in the summer months. There, Nick and Kearstin celebrated with a bottle of champagne, a custom engraved shot paddle (such a fun personal touch), and a sweet little picnic complete with cake, charcuterie, and hand-written letters from loved ones who couldn’t be there in person.

The day wrapped up at Picture Lake, where we watched the alpenglow settle on Mount Shuksan’s reflection in the still water. That soft pink light was the perfect ending to an already magical day.

This elopement was a reminder that your wedding doesn’t have to be big to be incredibly meaningful. With just the two of them, nature as their cathedral, and a few intentional moments woven in, Nick and Kearstin created a day that was 100% true to who they are.

If you’re considering a Mount Baker elopement or dreaming about a summer ceremony at Artist Point, this is your sign to do it. The landscape is breathtaking, the energy is peaceful, and there’s something so freeing about celebrating your love high up in the mountains.
